BIENVENIDO AL RESTAURANTE DE QUINCY

I have been making homemade meals for my dogs for over 6 years now.  When I first started preparing meals, I used recipes from Dr. Pitcairn's book on natural rearing. It didn't take me long to tire of the amount of time involved in cooking the amount needed for 8 dogs.  Later, I switched to the BARF diet.  While that was easier, I found it hard to find a good variety of meats and I found that getting the percentages of meat/bone/organs/veggies right was often confusing.  Next, I followed a diet formulated by a canine nutritionist.  But, after a year spent mostly in the kitchen, grinding up veggies and meats, I decided that was too much work.  And lastly, I switched over to the frozen prepared foods that Oma's Pride offers.  Their blends have the meat/bones/organs/veggies all ground up and ready to serve.  I use the lamb, beef, chicken and turkey blends and to those I add supplements.  If I had just a few dogs,  I would certainly use the exotic meats but I just can't afford to do that with so many dogs.
We have recently become a distributor for Oma's Products.  We will be placing our next order on June 15th, 2006.   If you are interested in knowing more about Oma's Pride products or feeding a natural diet to your dog, please feel free to contact us at quincycollies@yahoo.com.  We will be happy to help you get started. What are the advantages of feeding a raw diet to your dog?

My own personal experience with switching to a raw, natural diet for my dogs is that I never have to deal with skin issues which are mostly due to allergies from the grains in commercial dog foods.  My dogs don't have that "doggie" odor. Their teeth are nice and white and tartar free because they have bones to chew and are not eating the commercial food that sticks to their gums and teeth.  Their stools are small and compact-a sign that they are digesting the food well and getting the needed nutrition out of it.  Stools from raw fed dogs do not have that characteristic odor of kibble fed dogs.  Because I feed REAL food, their immune systems are stronger and healthier and I don't need to put preventatives on them to ward off fleas nor do I have to worm them.   I am on many dog health lists, and the reasons people have switched to raw are varied. A lot of dog owners have cleared up chronic health problems by switching to raw diets.   But, for me, the biggest bonus is that my newborn puppies are vigorous, plump, healthy and have great birth weights hence they are strong nursers. Their dams have plenty of milk to nurse them well into their 5th and 6th weeks.  That is very important in getting the puppies off to a great start in life.   I get a lot of satisfaction in watching these puppies, from birth to adulthood, thrive on real food.   They are no different than we are-if we eat a healthy diet, we feel and look better.  When we eat poor quality food, or junk food, we "survive."  Kibble is not REAL LIVE food.   Be sure to check out my page on  natural rearing.
